Former Deputy President Phumzile Mlambo-Ngcuka convened a panel of eminent South Africans to ensure all children read for meaning by age 10 by 2030.
In his 2019 State of the Nation Address, President Cyril Ramaphosa set out the goal that “our schools will have better educational outcomes and every 10 year old will be able to read for meaning” by 2030.
